Every carrier carries the iPhone. It all started with AT&T back in the day up until Verizon took in the iPhone 4 in 2011, then Sprint with the iPhone 4s later that year and T-Mobile decided to jump on the ship too with the iPhone 5 in 2013.
Other carriers did their own thing on getting Apple’s smartphones in stores and offering them to their customers, but there’s one particular carrier here in the US that has made the decision to only carry iPhones. That carrier is Virgin Mobile.
Back on Wednesday, the carrier made the announcement that they’ll only be selling iPhone going forward starting next week on Tuesday, June 27th. Between the 27th and the 31st, you’ll be able to get in on a special deal for your brand new iPhone too. Included with this deal comes a new plan offering unlimited talk, text, and data for $1 per month. That’ll last you one (1) year before going back up to $50 per month.
Unfortunately, there won’t really be any deals on the phones so you’ll be looking to spend about full retail for a new handset. The iPhone 6 will be the cheapest iPhone that’ll be offered and it’s selling for $319.99 USD all the way up to $769.99 for the iPhone 7 Plus. There are other perks to this promo too, so feel free to head over to Virgin Mobile’s website and take a look.
This is definitely a strange move from Virgin Mobile to only sell iPhones when they’ve sold a multitude of Android handsets and feature phones in the past. I’m curious to see how their business does with this plan and only iPhones, but considering people like Apple’s devices, they’ll definitely make money off of this.
So, it’s not a bad deal if you’re looking to possibly change carriers and would still like to use an iPhone, but it’ll then come down to coverage in your area and forking out the price of the device upfront. What do you guys think about Virgin Mobile offering only iPhones? Let us know.
