After a dull second half of last year with almost no key launches, Micromax has finally hit the market with all guns blazing. Soon after launching a range of smartphones starting from Canvas Dual 5 to Bharat 2, the homegrown brand has now introduced a range of Micromax powerbanks in the market.
Micromax has silently launched three new powerbanks of varying capacities at rather competitive prices. These include the MXAP1300, MXAPB1560 and MXAPB1040 power bricks. As evident from the names, the powerbanks come with 13,000mAH, 15,600mAH and 10,400mah capacity batteries respectively. The homegrown brand claims that these powerbanks are using batteries sourced from LG Chem Cells.
As for the build, all three Micromax powerbanks comes with a unique design. It doesn’t feature the stereotypical rectangular brick-like design of its compatriots. Rather, it’s a pleasant looking and convexing to both sides of its rubberised body.
That aside, the Micromax powerbanks has a three charging indicator lights for revealing the amount of charge left in it. It comes with a total of 2 USB ports with an output of 5V/2.1A and 5V/1A for charging two devices simultaneously. Besides, the input is capped at 5V/2A.
The Micromax powerbanks comes in two color options gray and black. It is BIS certified product and comes with a USB charging cable and wall charger inside the package. Micromax hasn’t officially revealed the pricing and the availability information of the powerbanks yet, but two of the devices namely Micromax MXAPB 10,400mAh and MXAPB 13,000mAH are available for sale on Amazon for Rs 1,123 and Rs 1,250 respectively.
For the uninitiated, this is Micromax’s first attempt to break into the powerbank market. Its sub-brand YU had however launched two powerbanks named JYUice in India at highly competitive prices two years back but had failed to compete with the likes of Xiaomi, Asus and OnePlus.
This time, however, Micromax won’t be facing much competition from either of the above-mentioned brands, as the availability of their powerbanks in the market is currently quite scarce. Its main competition would come from yet another homegrown brand, Ambrane.
