iPhone News / iOS 11 Update Will Bring Camera Improvements To iPhone

New filters and Live Photo features will be introduced to Apple devices in the Autumn with iOS 11 update.

Apple's latest product announcements and operating system updates were introduced to the World overnight and with it came news of useful camera updates that might impress iPhoneographers.

New effects can be added to Live Photos, such as long exposure and bounce which is a fun effect that makes your subject move backwards and forwards, and video loops can also be created.

To make the video loops, you can choose an image yourself or ask the photos app to make a suggestion for you, should you need a little creative help.

Once the update is installed, you'll also find new filters to choose from in camera and Portrait Mode has had an update so images are captured with optical image stabilisation and True Tone flash or HDR can be used.

As well as new filters and modes, the Photo apps' Memories section has had improvements made to it so it can now create more categories automatically to help you organise your photos and it's also able to recognise if a video needs to be played in portrait or landscape orientation.

The final part of the upgrade sees the introduction of a new technology called High-Efficiency Image File Format (HEIF) that reduces the file size of every photo taken with iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus.

iOS 11 is scheduled to arrive in the Autumn but there will be a public beta arriving later this month should you want to get your hands on the update early.

iOS 11 will be compatible with iPhone 5s and later, all iPad Air and iPad Pro models, iPad 5th generation, iPad mini 2 and later and iPod touch 6th generation.
