Hermit’s purpose is quite straightforward – it accumulates web counterparts of the most popular mobile applications including Reddit, Facebook, Twitter and more on a single platform.

Of course, a series of companies have already updated their web apps for adapting the particular phone’s notification system and whatnot like Twitter, Flipkart but for those who haven’t, Hermit does the job for them.

Additionally, Hermit features a range of customization tools you would usually miss out on if you prefer web apps such as night or reader modes, ad blocker, data saver, malware protection, multi window support on Android Nougat or above, text size and a whole lot more. Once you install any of these bundled web apps, Hermit even creates a shortcut on the home screen, icons for which you can entirely personalize according to your needs.
For adding a new web app to Hermit, you can simply tap the “plus” button on the main screen. From there, you can either add one of the many “ready-made” lite apps, or you can just add another URL if your app isn’t available in that collection. In case you select a blog, Hermit will load the pages through Google’s AMP filter if you want and will also send you notifications whenever there’s a new post.
These settings can, of course, be turned off. Once you have added a web app, Hermit will create a shortcut on the home screen automatically. Moreover, if the website supports, the app will also populate a left navigation drawer. For instance, there will be options for “notifications”, “messages” in Twitter if you swipe right from the left edge.
Hermit, unfortunately, isn’t entirely free of cost, though. The paid version will let you add more than two web apps. However, you can try the premium subscription for a couple of days before paying.
